Update about Ella, finally!
Umm... you guys might want to check out my pregnancy diary. For unexpected news. Of a rather large nature! ;)
But I'll leave that for that diary, and do a normal update here. I have to catch up on Ella's visit and the photos!!! I am so behind, urgh!
Sooo Ella is so cute!! She is TINY! I can't believe how little a 3-month-old is! Although MY 3-month-old was never that small, so maybe that's why. She weighs just over 10lbs and is long and lean. She is breastfed, but SIL is doing this scheduled feeding thing (oh MAN!) and Ella's weight gain has been slow. Ella cried 2 hours and 45 mins after her last feed, but SIL held her and rocked her and made her wait. Yeurgh. But hey ho. Not my baby and all that.
She is so cute!!!! Arthur was so interested in her! He didn't mind at all when Neil or I held her. He just carried on as normal, cruising around and playing with toys and vocalising very noisily (and with great excitement!) at his auntie and uncle! He wanted to touch Ella a lot when she was lying on the mat on the floor having her nappy changed. Neil was ultra gooey over Ella, and lay next to hear making gooey babytalk sounds to her (he's such a softie!). Arthur crawled right up and lay next to Neil watching Ella's face very carefully, as though he was taking part too! It was very sweet. I'm so annoyed that I didn't photograph that part!
He wanted to touch her face and the top of her head a lot. He reached out for her all the time but we were careful over letting him actually touch her much, because he is a bit of a "scruncher" with his lil fingers at the moment!
When her daddy was holding her, Arthur kept crawling up to him, pulling up on his knees and trying to touch Ella. Over the course of the visit (a few hours), Arthur spontaneously gave her two real kisses! It was the cutest thing. I am amazed that he does that so readily. He kissed her very very gently on the forehead when she was on the floor to be changed. He leaned in so carefully and gently, he seemed to take such a lot of effort over it. He also kissed her when her daddy was holding her. He reached and reached, and finally I sat with him so that I could whip his hands back if he looked like he would scrunch her, and he just leaned in gently and kissed her face!
I have noticed that he has only ever kissed girl babies so far, hahaha! He has socialised with plenty of boy babies but only kissed the girls ;) He has kissed Hannah at church, Jaya, and now Ella. My sweet boy :) He IS extremely affectionate, and I love that about him.

When they were getting ready to go home - Ella was in her car seat ready for the journey. Arthur looked so grown-up to me, standing there holding onto a car seat with a little baby inside!...

It was soooo nice to see them all. We had a nice time chatting with them and holding Ella. I felt so broody! She was so little and wobbly! I think there are some definitely similarities between Ella and Arthur. Her eyes are blue though. Arthur's eyes were never going to be blue! It was weird to be all veteran-parents-y with my BIL and SIL. They were asking us all these questions about things Ella was doing, and we were going, "Oh yes, I remember that with Arthur! We just did X, Y and Z." etc. It weird. I can't believe I am actually a mummy sometimes, let alone a mummy who has a baby old enough so that she has experience that mothers of little babies don't have yet! It's weird.
Okay I have to go. My boys have been to B&Q and now they are home. It's Arthur's lunch time and we need to phone Neil's mum :) Will try to update again soon.
Oh but just quickly, we went to the baby clinic yesterday and Arthur weighs 23lbs 13oz (75th percentile) and measures 76cm long (85th percentile). He is doing great! :) Will write more soon.
